Vendors I Love: YELLOW BOW FLORALS

I met Lauren a few months back at an industry event. I was immediately drawn to her energy and once I looked up her work, it just made me smile. There was an ease and purpose to her designs. At times simple and elegant, or dramatic and moody. It’s clear that she works with her couples in a super personal way. Without further ado, I am excited to shine a light on Lauren Fernandez of YELLOW BOW FLORALS.

What was the path that led you to become a floral designer?

I was teaching elementary school and knew I needed a change. One day while looking through craigslist, I came across a post from a floral design company that was looking for a weekend intern. I was super intrigued and have always loved flowers, so I answered the post and got the position! I started working in the floral studio stripping roses, cleaning buckets, breaking down boxes, and sweeping floors. I loved every minute of it, even though it wasn't the prettiest part of working with flowers. After completing the internship, I eventually got hired as a studio manager and had more hands-on experience with the flowers. I learned how to create arrangements and bouquets from so many talented designers that I worked with at the studio. I also took home the extra flowers and practiced A LOT. I knew early on that this was exactly the kind of job that I wanted to have. Creative, social, energetic, and super hands on!

What excites you about weddings?

The thing that excites me most is watching my couples get excited as they learn more about flowers. In the beginning of the planning process, most couples tell me they don't know much about flowers and they're not sure about which ones they like. When they see their proposal with their color palette and the types of flowers I'm planning to use, their eyes light up to see the possibilities! I try to choose flowers I think they'd like based on our discussions, so it's always a treat to see them get excited about the flower varieties. After our meetings, some of my couples tell me they notice different types of flowers more often now, which is SO cool!

What do you look for in a couple?

I look for couples that want to make special connections with their vendors. I love the art of creating florals, but I also love learning about who my couples are and their love stories. For me, working in weddings is personal. I get inspired by my couples when I'm creating their proposals and designs and I love creating something unique and special to them.

What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received?

Some of the greatest compliments I've ever received are when my couples say I've made their wedding planning experience fun and easy. I take a lot of pride in working side by side with my couples to make sure they don't have to stress (about the floral portion anyway). I'm SO happy that comes through in my business.

What do you desire for your business?

My hope for my business is for couples to have a memorable experience working with me. I really do get excited for each and every couple's wedding. My hope is that couple's see that excitement. I approach my business with a lot of intention. I really hope that my couples choose me not just for my designs but for my client experience.

What are you grateful for?

I am really grateful for my couples. They put their trust in me to be a part of their special days and it's because of them that I have my own business. I am also grateful for the wedding vendor community in NYC. I've made such lasting connections with planners, caterers, DJs, venues that have really helped my business and have become great friends of mine.

Any recent cause for celebration?

I recently was featured in MSN's top 10 luxury florists of 2025, which I was super excited about! Here is the link to the article.

Oh my gosh, that’s amazing! Congratulations.
