Vendors I Love: FEATHER & FUNK

I met Tracey at a recent WIPA event here in New York. We were sitting next to each other and I quickly learned that this was her first WIPA event, even though she’s been doing calligraphy work for 20 years. When I finally checked out her social pages, I was like, “wow, how beautiful and special!” Without further ado, I am excited to shine some well deserved light onto Tracey Feller from FEATHER & FUNK.

What was the path that led you to become a calligrapher?

People have told me ever since I was a child that I've had nice handwriting. Alongside being a painter & artist, I've always admired lettering as an art form. I took one beginner class with a friend, and taught the rest to myself just by practicing. Friends began asking me to address envelopes for their weddings, and those opportunities quickly multiplied. Before long, I was creating more than just invitations—I was lettering programs, vows, signage, tabletop cards, and so much more, including the details for my own wedding. This became my side hustle alongside my full time graphic design job. While working at Allure, I once was tasked with writing words in lipstick for publishing in the magazine. It was so fun! A colleague noticed that work, and further connected me to the world of luxury brand events. This has been such a joyous journey creating for weddings & brands for about 20 years.

What excites you about weddings?

What excites me most is creating something truly special and personal for each couple—something unique, original, and handmade just for them. I love creating work that can’t be replicated by a font or AI, but instead reflects the artistry, skill, and human touch of being made by hand. Weddings are all about beautiful attention to detail, and I love being part of those thoughtful touches that make the celebration feel even more personal and memorable.

What do you look for in a couple?

I am happy to work with anyone, and am very flexible with whatever they want. When couples come to me, I like to get a good sense of knowing what they want. That way I can appreciate and share their visions, and inspiration so that I can build off of that.

What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received?

One thing I remember being very humbled by was walking into a house, and seeing the envelope I had addressed in a frame in a guest's house. They had tossed the invitation and all contents, but just kept the envelope, and framed it! It cracked me up. But the guest told me they loved seeing their name and address written in my writing that they could not part with it. It was a compliment beyond words.

What do you desire for your business?

I hope to have clients call me with interest in having me custom create beautiful pieces for them. I would also love to form relationships with event planners that can call on me and refer me.

What are you grateful for?

I am grateful for so much, but one of my favorite sayings is, "health is wealth." I am just so grateful to be healthy and doing what I love, and to have the ability to do it while balancing family life.

Any recent cause for celebration?

My husband & I are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary this year.

Oh my gosh, Tracey, that’s awesome. Congratulations!
