I was introduced to Esme through one of my wonderful photographer colleagues, Amy Sims. It’s great when folks in the industry just know a good connection when they see it! I absolutely adore the way that Esme looks at weddings and factors in all of the emotional pieces! It’s great to have a like mind in those who think holistically and intentionally. Without further ado, I’m so excited to shine a little light on Esme Krahn and BODAMAESTRA!
What was the path that led you to become a Holistic Wedding Planner & Event Designer
I began my career in 2004, drawing from my background in corporate procurement and planning. I quickly realized that beyond logistics, couples needed guidance, structure, and a sense of calm during such an important life moment. Over time, my approach evolved into what is now Bodamaestra’s holistic wedding planning experience—where thoughtful planning meets emotional support and intentional design.
What excites you about weddings?
What excites me most is the connection with my clients. I love witnessing their excitement and anticipation as the day approaches. I am honored to support them through any stress or uncertainty along the way.
There’s something incredibly meaningful about seeing couples shift from feeling overwhelmed to feeling grounded, confident, and fully present. On the wedding day, I also love meeting their closest family and friends. There’s something special about witnessing those once-in-a-lifetime moments unfold.
When everything comes together and our clients are able to truly enjoy their celebration without worry, it’s deeply fulfilling. The experience we share is often so personal that many of our clients become lifelong friends, which means everything to me.
What do you look for in a couple?
Our ideal clients are those who trust the process and value a collaborative experience.
We take the time to truly get to know each couple so we can create a wedding that reflects who they are—both individually and together. Trust allows us to guide them with clarity, while collaboration ensures the experience feels personal and aligned.
We also value working with couples who are open to support—not only in planning and design, but also emotionally. If at any point the process feels overwhelming, we’re there to help them reset, refocus, and move forward with confidence.
What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received?
I’ve received many meaningful compliments over the years, but one that has stayed with me is when a couple shared that they felt safe with me at the wheel.
That sense of trust is everything. It tells me we are truly fulfilling our purpose. Not just planning a wedding, but creating an experience where our clients feel supported, guided, and at ease.
What do you desire for your business?
My greatest desire is to continue attracting couples who are ready to approach their wedding with clarity, intention, and trust. We intentionally take on a limited number of weddings each year. That way we ensure every couple receives a highly personalized and fully supported experience.
We believe that planning a wedding does not have to feel overwhelming. It can feel grounded, organized, and enjoyable—and I want more couples to experience that.
What are you grateful for?
I’m deeply grateful for many things in my life, starting with the simple gift of waking up each day and being present.
My husband is my greatest partner—both in life and in everything we build together. After more than 20 years of marriage, we still prioritize our time together, and that foundation means everything to me.
I’m also incredibly grateful to be a mother to our four adult children, and to share our home with our two black labs. Family is truly at the center of who I am.
Any recent cause for celebration?
A recent milestone has been expanding Bodamaestra into New York and the surrounding metropolitan area.
My daughter, Malia, is leading our work there, and it has been incredibly special to see her step into this role. She developed a passion for wedding planning over time and has become not only an integral part of the business, but also my right hand.
Working alongside her has been both meaningful and exciting as we continue to grow!
