Gratituesday 9.1.20 - Embracing Fear

I speak a lot about embracing calm. However the the idea of embracing fear is equally important. My business practice centers around releasing tension and anxiety around the wedding. However, the concept of fear is very present today. I felt the RNC lead their convention last week from a place of fear, and in a recent premarital counseling session, one of the pair was surprised how much fear affected their life and their decisions.

As New York shut down due to COVID-19, fear took over. There was so much unknown that we didn’t know how to move forward. Many of us thought we were infected when we weren’t. I was afraid to go out, fearful to interact with other, nervous to accept food and supplies delivery. Fear was all around us.

Gradually, I had to embrace the fear to create what we’re calling “the new normal” So, I donned a mask, and walked back out in the world. There is certainly danger all around, but I’ve been able to take the necessary precautions, weigh the risks and be aware of the anxiety, so I can let it go.

Here’s hoping that our election is not overpowered by this leadership by fear and that my couples use the power of partnership to make strides together. Turning the corner and stepping into our personal strength certainly takes reflection before action. A perfect time to also look at our gratitudes, victories and desires. Care to join me? I’ll start.
