Gratituesday 1.16.18 - Creating Rituals

Gratituesday-4.png

Last month, I did a bit of research on creating rituals. As someone who tends to procrastinate, I thought it would be a good idea to have a daily habit to jump start the day. I had a brief stint doing the Ayurvedic morning routine, but it was a little too much for me. So with the start of the Artist's Way and the daily Morning Pages, I added cleaning of my face and teeth, using my neti pot and putting lotion on in between making coffee and breakfast. I then sit on the couch (usually with my cat) to write for 20 minutes.

I've done this routine most days, but some days I have an early appointment or just plain forget something. It takes about 66 days to form a habit according to a recent study. So, I just need to keep it up to make it stick. These Weekly Lists are little more regular, but then again I've been doing them for a while. Not quite automatic, but pretty close. Care to join me for a little reflection and gratitude? Let's go!

GRATITUDES

1. A steady stream of both counseling and wedding inquiries

2. Hot coffee

3. Inexpensive matinee movies

4. Steam heat in my apartment so I can keep my window opened

5. The Internet in general and wifi on subway, specifically

CELEBRATIONS

1. Booked two more weddings and 1 counseling couple this week

2. A great review from last week's wedding

3. Activity on the dating front

4. Some of my networking and community connections bearing fruit

5. Completing most tasks and exercises for the Artist's Way. Go Week 5!

DESIRES

1. To figure out how to tame my new haircut

2. A home that I love

3. To drink more water

4. To wake up refreshed

5. A clean kitchen

Okay, folks that's it. Now it's your turn. Do you have a daily or weekly ritual? How did you keep it up? Do you beat yourself up when you don't do it or forget? How long did it take to become a habit? Feel free to add comments, questions or your daily lists below. And more importantly, here's to a great week!
