Wedding Yoga: BACHELORETTE PARTIES

Planning a wedding has the potential to be among the most stressful experiences in the timeline of a couple. From selecting a venue that suits your needs to creating boundaries for well-meaning family members, there’s a lot that may challenge a bride-to-be from feeling Zen.

Brides and grooms tend to focus their time, energy and budget on the the venue, music, flowers, invitations and very little time on their emotional well-being. I highly recommend spending time preparing emotionally for a wedding. I mean, how will it be the best day of your life if you are stressed and overwhelmed?

This is why I created my Wedding Yoga practice.

It’s important that brides and grooms invest in both camaraderie and celebration leading up to the wedding. Feel free to take a break and read why. Great news is that you can achieve BOTH with Yoga for Your Posse. However, it’s also a great way to look at the Bachelorette Party!

If you’re more into crow pose than clubbing, how about a gathering with your gals for yoga and a cocktail party to follow? Gone are the days of being forced into all-nighters and hangovers. The new bachelorette party trend will leave you feeling refreshed, connected, and maybe even a little more flexible.

The ancient practice or maintaining and flowing through various “asanas” or poses can work wonders to restore serenity and channel strength physically and mentally. There are countless benefits to doing yoga as a bride-to-be. Deep twists and strengthening of the core gives each bride the opportunity to become more present. However, it’s more powerful if we add the camaraderie and celebration component and invite your closest friends, family member or bridesmaids. We'll do an hour of the practice of your choice, ending with a powerful ritual that celebrates the individual and the bonds of friendship. Then a team of servers & bartenders will follow to continue the festivities. It’s like a bridal retreat brought to you - all in 2 1/2 hours!

So how does it work?

Conversation usually starts with the bride or maid/matron of honor. We talk big picture logistics about what you may want and when. Do you want a more restorative practice? Or something more rigorous. And in terms of the party…do you want apps and cocktails after yoga? Or perhaps some tea and scones? From being in the wedding world, I work with some of the best chefs, bakers and mixologists in New York City. So, once you decide what you want, I’ll connect with the team that will handle your food and beverage to finalize a menu. Usually bachelorette parties are scheduled 1-2 months before the wedding, so it’s best to start planning at least 6 months before the wedding.

Most of these sessions wind up in a private home, or hotel suite. I arrive 30 minutes before hand and set up the space. If you are looking for a Zen practice, I’ll light some candles and play some calming music. If you prefer something more fun and athletic, I’ll set the tone appropriately. Either way, there will be plenty of camaraderie in the form of laughter and connection, movement and ritual.

After the 60 minute practice, I pass the torch to the servers, bartenders and/or mixologists to handle the food and beverage. They would have slipped in during yoga to set up and prepare for an easy transition from camaraderie to celebration.

The purpose of having a bachelorette party is to honor your single life, spend time with your closest friends and have fun. But, it is also a time for you to pause the stress of wedding planning and to relax without distraction. I cannot think of a better way to accomplish this with great friends, good food and YOGA!
