Independence Gratitudes!

10408063_10152108818627461_7668483263891787858_nIt's hot and humid here in NY, but I just moved my fan closer and had 2 oatmeal raisin cookies to go with my tea, so all is right with the world. Gosh, if it could only be that simple. This week was a doozy. Long hours catering, high temps, and I marched in the Pride parade which was all sorts tiring and emotional. I had a catering gig on my calendar, but completely forgot it was postponed, so I quickly regrouped and accepted Tim's invitation to walk with Swish - one of the first gay-straight alliances here in NY. It was their last year marching in the parade so I considered it a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity.  I salute everyone who marched and cheered the marchers on. And here are my weekly lists.GRATITUDES1. Tim for helping me put my AC unit in, but largely for this friendship, encouragement and keeping things real, even if they sting a little.2. Supportive coworkers and enthusiastic wedding couples3. Angela and Tony for each taking time to catch up on the phone. Their connection is strong even though they are both miles and miles away.4. Catering left oversCELEBRATIONS1. Another wedding inquiry and 4 pending weddings2. Starting my yoga challenge this week and having a few joining me3. Doing daily Spanish lessons, which now becomes practical because I head to Spain in October!4. Continuing to keep the weight off and feeling good5. The ease I feel when I don't sweat the small stuff and let go of control.DESIRES1. Time and energy to write blog posts and newsletters2. Expanding my social and professional circles3. Cross ventilation in my apartment - though it's not going to happen in the one I currently live!4. Romance5. Going to the movies this weekOkay fellow 'Mericans, that's what I've got. Enjoy the day and feel free to add your lists below. Or heck encourage me in mine. I will gladly take any you send my way, and pass it back in kind. Happy 4th!
