I first learned about MG Hair & Makeup at The Love Union. They always offered their services to the wedding community and then I started stalking them on Instagram. Each of their artists always showed such care and skill. Finally at this past Love Union, I had the honor to meet MG herself. Megan was on a panel and I really appreciated her views on the industry and inclusion. Without further ado, I am so excited to shine a little light on Megan Garmers from mg hair & makeup!

What was the path that led you to start the agency?

I started doing bridal hair and makeup over 2 decades ago and at that time, on-site hair and makeup services were not something most brides did. People went to a salon. But those who I worked with had friends who were getting married in other states and locations. So they started asking I traveled or knew of people in those places who did hair and makeup like I did. Back then, most wedding hair and makeup was very prescribed and everyone looked the same, with slight differences based on popular trends for those areas. But these soon-to-be-brides preferred to look like themselves, only a bit better. So I realized two things. 1. That there was a need for this type of service all over and 2. that artists in these areas needed to be trained and prepared to work with brides to enhance their natural beauty instead of covering it. Artists in bridal also had a hard time staying in bridal because they were great at what they did but had a hard time with administrative work. As an agency, we take care of the marketing, customer service and general business for our artists. That way they can concentrate on what they do best - hair and makeup.

What excites you about weddings?

I love love. I love seeing our couples happy and how they can personalize their wedding to celebrate who they are individually and as a couple.

What do you look for in a couple?

Couples who really "get" each other and support each other are so fun to work with. We love working with couples who are comfortable with themselves and each other. They also understand that the wedding day is more than just pretty photos. It is a celebration of their love.

What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received?

The greatest compliment is always a referral or client who keeps booking us for every major event in their lives.

What do you desire for your business?

My biggest desire for my business is to always help our clients feel their best. "Looking" your best is subjective and is different for everyone. Looking identical to an inspiration photo doesn't mean you will feel beautiful or your best. Celebrating how beauty comes in all different forms is at the core of what we do.

What are you grateful for?

I am so grateful for our couples, their friends and families, the artists we have and the vendors we get to work with. It is truly a privilege to be able to have worked with clients and our artists for 2 decades.

Any recent cause for celebration?

Weddings and reopening! We are so excited for our couples who have been waiting to celebrate due to COVID and can now do so.
