The wedding day is an exciting day. For most, it's many months (or years) in the making. There has been lots of planning and logistics, and that may come with nerves and anxiety. Here are some things you can do to find Zen and embrace calm on your wedding day!

Get Plenty of Rest

This one technically starts the day before, but it's important to be rested for your wedding day. With excitement and nerves running high, you'll feel better with a full night's sleep. Put on fresh sheets, if staying at home or enjoy the fancy bedding if sleeping at a hotel. If you find it hard to fall asleep, you may want to download a meditation app like Calm or create a calming playlist to help you into a peaceful slumber!

Remember to Eat

Although many brides and grooms say they are too anxious to excited to eat in the morning, it's important to have some nourishment in your belly to get you through the morning. Fresh fruit, yogurt and granola or an egg with whole wheat toast are great options. Pair that with a fancy coffee or calming herbal tea, you will set yourself up nicely for the day. Don't forget to take time to eat during the day. And while you want to see all of your friends and family during your reception, you may want to prioritize actually sitting down and eating. That way you have plenty of energy for DANCING!

Gather Your Inner Circle

Surround yourself only with the people you want with you on the morning of your wedding. Just as Marie Kondo suggests, we need to gather those that bring us joy. That joy will certainly allow us to release the stress and find Zen. That may mean gathering certain family members or your wedding party. You may want to arrange a wedding yoga session with your bridal party or just jump into getting ready. There's a good chance you will have you hair & make-up artists, the photographer or a stylist in the room with you. So, choose your vendors carefully and make sure you have a great natural dynamic with them.

Engage the Senses

Sometimes we can find Zen on the wedding day by reducing the physical distractions around us. It may help to limit what we see. That's why many people close their eyes, or soften their gaze when they meditate. Reducing visual distraction, leaves more space to tap into sound and smell. On the morning of the wedding, you may want to create a playlist to evoke the energy you want around you. If you need calm, perhaps some instrumental or classical music. Or if you want to get the party started early, create a list of your favorite dance hits. For smell, you can always diffuse calming essential oils like jasmine, lavender or ylang ylang. Or if you need something to motivate and invigorate, you could light a candle with a rosemary, cinnamon or peppermint.
